Tyndall Air Force Base is located in Panama City, Florida and is home to the 325th Fighter Wing, which is responsible for training F-22 Raptor pilots. The base covers over 29,000 acres of land, including 7,000 acres of water. The location of the base provides a unique training environment, with high air traffic from military and civilian aircraft, as well as the nearby Gulf of Mexico providing a maritime training area.

In addition to its primary role in training F-22 pilots, Tyndall Air Force Base also houses the 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group, which conducts operational testing and evaluation of new weapons systems. The base is also home to the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, which provides engineering and technical support to the Air Force and Department of Defense.

Tyndall Air Force Base has a long and storied history, dating back to its establishment as a military training site during World War II. Since then, the base has played a crucial role in training and preparing military personnel for combat operations. In 2018, Tyndall Air Force Base was heavily impacted by Hurricane Michael, which caused widespread damage to the base’s infrastructure, including nearly every building on the base.

In the aftermath of the hurricane, the Air Force committed to rebuilding and modernizing Tyndall Air Force Base, with plans to make it the home of the future of air superiority. The base has since undergone significant reconstruction and modernization efforts, including the construction of new facilities and infrastructure to support the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Today, Tyndall Air Force Base continues to be a vital asset to the U.S. Air Force, providing training, testing, and support to ensure air superiority for the nation’s defense. The base’s strategic location, state-of-the-art facilities, and diverse training environment make it a key asset in preparing military personnel for the challenges of modern warfare.
