Swan Creek is a small, unincorporated community in southwestern Saginaw County, Michigan. It is located in the township of Swan Creek, which is named after the creek that runs through the area. The community is situated about 15 miles south of Saginaw and is part of the larger Saginaw metropolitan area. The area was first settled in the early 19th century, and was originally known as “The Forks” due to its location at the junction of two major Native American trails. It wasn’t until the mid-1800s that the community was officially named Swan Creek after the creek that runs through the area. The creek itself was named after the large number of swans that were found in the area.
