The area that is now Tresckow was settled in the late 19th century by immigrants from Eastern Europe, primarily from Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine. These immigrants came to the area to work in the booming coal industry, and Tresckow was originally known as Dutchtown in honor of its early German settlers. The town was later renamed Tresckow in honor of a Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company executive.

Tresckow was a thriving coal mining town throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with numerous mines operating in the area. However, like many other small coal towns, Tresckow experienced a decline in the coal industry, leading to economic challenges for the community. Despite this, the town has persevered and maintained its quaint and charming character.

Today, Tresckow is a close-knit community with a population of just over 900 residents. The town is known for its strong sense of community and its residents’ commitment to preserving its history and heritage. Tresckow is home to several historic buildings, including St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, which was built in the early 20th century and still stands as a testament to the town’s rich history.

In addition to its historical significance, Tresckow is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The town is located near several state parks and forests, offering ample opportunities for hiking, camping, and fishing.
