Our History

An organizational meeting was held in December of 1977, and it was determined that there was an interest in forming a community development organization in Otto.  In January of 1978 officers were elected.  Otto Community was divided into eleven districts with two representatives from each to serve with the officers on the Board of Directors.  This gave representation to all areas of the large community.  By-Law were established and the organization filed for incorporation.

During the summer of 1978, Otto Volunteer Fire Department was organized under the auspices of the Otto Community Development Organization.  Many fund raising activities were held in the community to raise operating funds.

We are a organization located in Macon County in Western North Carolina, whose programs benefit local residents.

We are volunteers in service to the community.
